Pregnancy can change your hair growth. Sometimes it speeds up. Sometimes it slows down. Sometimes it just turns up in odd places.
The question we get most is simple: can you still get waxed while you’re pregnant?
For most people, yes. We wax pregnant clients all the time.
Waxing is a surface treatment. It doesn’t affect baby.
If your midwife or consultant has told you to avoid waxing, or you’re dealing with complications, please follow their advice. If you’re unsure, have a quick check with them first. It’ll put your mind at rest.
Your skin can be more sensitive in pregnancy. More blood flow, more hormones, more everything.
That can mean waxing feels a bit sharper than usual, especially for intimate waxing. Not always, but it’s common.
We adjust for it. We work in smaller sections, keep the skin taut, and avoid going over the same area again and again. A good wax shouldn’t leave you feeling battered.
If you’re in the later stages of pregnancy, lying flat can feel uncomfortable. Some people feel light-headed on their back.
We can use cushions, change positions, and take breaks. You can sit up for a moment. You can move around.
If you feel hot, dizzy, sick, or just “not right” — tell us straight away. No pushing through. We stop and reset.
A lot of pregnant clients book a bikini, Brazilian or Hollywood because shaving gets harder. Bending stops being fun surprisingly quickly.
You don’t need to be able to see what’s going on. You just need to be comfortable. We’ll guide you through positioning and keep things calm and professional.
If you’re new to intimate waxing, it’s usually nicer to start earlier in pregnancy rather than right near the end. You can still do it later on, but it tends to be more sensitive, and you’ve got enough going on.
A couple of small things make a big difference:
Pregnancy skin can be a bit more reactive, so aftercare is worth following properly.
Hospitals don’t all give the same advice on hair removal before a C-section. Some prefer you don’t do anything right before. Some will clip on the day if needed.
If you have a planned date, ask your hospital what they prefer. If you do want a wax, don’t leave it to the last minute — give your skin time to settle.
If you’re pregnant, add a quick note on your booking with how many weeks you are. It helps us plan timings and positioning.
